Full-Time Day Shift Monday- Friday 8:00AM to 4:30PM, no weekends

POSITION SUMMARY:

Individually executes assigned HIM Associate core role, including Release of Information, Record Completion, ER, Discharges, Audits, Merge, and Birth Registration and also directs/monitors the HIM Associate for assigned shift/group of employees on a daily basis as directed by director.  Responsible for providing feedback on daily HIM processes and staffing issues to the Director.  Provide assistance to staff level employees as necessary to insure compliance with department policies and procedures.  Assist manager with staffing, report reconciliation, QA process, and other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

  • Individually executes all responsibilities outlined in “Core” HIM Processing Associate role, plus:
  • Record Completion:
  • Transcription
  • Suspension
  • Superuser for Scanning
  • Assist physicians with completing records/coding questions                                          
  • Monitors and directs the timely, effective execution of HIM individuals as assigned by Manager
  • Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a team
  • Supports training program for new employees
  • Provides summary of assigned group/s/shift’s operating results at end of shift to supervisor/director in accordance with department leadership’s established operating metrics
  • Identifies operational issues/challenges, raises them to department supervisor/director, and works with supervisor/director to resolve
  • Assists manager
  • Supports execution of performance improvement initiatives within the department or with other hospital departments
  • Individually meets performance standards established by HIM leadership, including, but not limited to: quality, customer service, and productivity
  • Oversee the daily activities of HIM department to ensure department standards are met
  • When appropriate, relieve staff members during employee sick/vacation time
  • Secure all signatures necessary for release of medical information from legally responsible patients
  • Work closely and professionally with ancillary departments in effort to maintain a teamwork approach
  • Excel in all functions performed by HIM Processing Associate
  • Assists in resolving physician concerns
  • Assist supervisor to ensure all personnel department policies and procedures are followed
  • Act in capacity of supervisor in his/her supervisor, and inform supervisor of all issues upon her return
  • Maintains effectiveness in HIM department
  • Attends in-service presentations, and completes mandatory education week, including, but not limited to, infection control, patient safety, quality improvements
  • Practice and adhere to “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education:   High school diploma or equivalent.  Associate’s degree in healthcare

Experience: 2 year's experience in Health Information Management or hospital/clinic/physician office or related field
