POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a digital copywriter to write and edit content for Boston Medical Center’s 10 websites, as well as provide support for our broader communications and marketing teams when needed. Reporting to the senior content manager, you will be a key member of Boston Medical Center Health System’s (BMCHS) digital team within the Marketing and Communications department. The digital team oversees all of BMC’s web properties, with a focus on the ongoing enhancement of hospital websites, and collaborates with various departments, programs, and leaders across the organization to drive digital excellence.

The ideal candidate should have a solid foundation in both long- and short-form content, a passion for storytelling and turning complex ideas into engaging content, a good understanding of digital marketing and SEO strategies, and experience with CMS platforms. The ability to work in a fast-paced and growing environment is essential to this role.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

  • Writes compelling headlines, department pages, brand pages, patient education, and more, ensuring content is patient-friendly, useful, and engaging
  • Works with departments and leadership across the hospital to update their content and ensure the needs of their patients are met on BMCHS web properties
  • Creates content for new websites launching as part of BMCHS digital properties
  • Oversees updates of the BMC style guide
  • Partners with the SEO and Analytics team to use their insights to write and optimize content
  • Participates in and helps lead brainstorm sessions for content ideation
  • Monitors competitive and industry trends to ensure we’re providing a differentiated and competitive experience
  • Assists with content development for marketing initiatives and campaigns
  • Edits and/or assists with writing BMC’s monthly patient newsletter
  • Supports content development for the BMCHS Talent Acquisition team
  • Collaborates with user experience colleagues to write copy that best fits user needs and adjust content based on engagement insights
  • Assists in content population on BMCHS web properties
  • Partners with Design team to ensure alignment across projects
  • Partners with the project management team to prioritize projects, streamline processes, and ensure timely delivery

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent combination of formal education and experience)

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

  • None

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a writing, editing, or content marketing role
  • Experience working on digital content
  • Experience with both long- and short-form content
  • Experience working in healthcare a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSAs):

  • Strong writing skills, with experience in both long- and short-form content
  • Experience with editing others’ content
  • Ability to maintain brand voice and messaging across all digital channels while adapting to different formats and audiences
  • Familiarity with SEO principles and best practices
  • Familiarity with content management systems, especially Drupal (highly preferred), WordPress, or similar platforms
  • Experience thriving in fast-paced, deadline-oriented environments
  • Understanding of UX/UI principles and best practices
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal abilities
  • Capable of working independently, juggling multiple projects, and meeting deadlines
  • A proactive and self-motivated individual with a strong passion for delivering content that positively impacts the lives of others
