Position: Central Processing Technician II

Schedule: 40 hours, Evenings, Every 3rd Weekend as needed

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Central Processing Technician II (CP Tech II) must be able to perform all the duties of a CP Tech I and meet or exceed BMC/Department and Industry standards in carrying them out.  The CP Tech II is responsible for collaborating with Supervisors, the Clinical Educator, the Training Coordinator, and CP Tech IIIs to provide instruction to CP Tech Is as directed.  The CPT Tech II collects, inventories, and orders daily supplies, stocks and maintains supply PAR (Periodic Automated Replenishment) levels for the CPD. All CP Tech IIs must maintain detailed records (including accurate written logs and computer-generated labels). The CP Tech II demonstrates superb English language and interpersonal skills to maintain open oral, written, telephone, and electronic communication with all Health Care Team members. The CP Tech II completes assigned work on time, enabling the Department to achieve its mission.

EDUCATION:

Requires a minimum of a High School Diploma or government recognized equivalent.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

Requires certification as a Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) by the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA), or, as a Central Sterile Professional Department Technician (CSPDT) by the American Society of Healthcare Central Processing Personnel (ASHCSP). Certification needs to be maintained by obtaining the required CEU’s each year through the certifying agency.

EXPERIENCE:

Requires at least one year prior experience collecting, cleaning, decontaminating, packing, and storing sterile instruments. 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Requires ability to speak, read, write, and communicate in English effectively with CP Department managers, supervisors, and staff, Charge Nurses, MDs, and staff other clinical and support departments.
  • Ability to accurately interpret and use medical terminology and abbreviations.
  • Ability to access and enter computerized data and information.
  • Organizational skills to effectively set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work.

Compensation Range:

$26.33- $34.75

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer.
