Schedule: 32 Hours, Days, 7a-3p, Every Other Weekend, Part-Time, Benefit Eligible
Position Summary:
Provide technical assistance to the nursing staff and performing a variety of computer, clerical, scheduling and supply functions necessary for the operation of a 16-bed geriatric psychiatric care unit. Supports clinical staff with 15-min checks/continuous ligature rounds when possible
Responsibilities:
Proficiently functions as a technologist in the following areas as deemed competent: Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis and Coagulation.
Ensures QC is within appropriate limits for each test prior to reporting patient results.
Confirms abnormal results prior to releasing and bring any “rare and improbable” test results to the attention of a Section Head or Lead.
Processes specimens and logs requisitions as needed.
Reviews daily specimen reports as appropriate.
Assists in maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies.
Troubleshoots problems (client, instrument, computer) as needed.
Performs maintenance on instrumentation as needed.
Records QC and maintains QC records on all assays performed.
Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma.
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of clerical experience required.
Computer skills required.
Knowledge of medical terminology required.
Working in an outpatient setting preferred.
Certification/Licensure:
BLS Certification required by DMH or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire. Must have CPR certification.
Mandatory De-escalation Education within 30 days of hire
Hardware/Software: Meditech
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
