Position: Student Intern, Psychiatry Research      

Location: Boston, MA

Schedule: Per Diem, Hybrid

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Student Research Intern will support research and programmatic activities within the Wellness and Recovery After Psychosis (WRAP) in the Department of Psychiatry at Boston Medical Center. The WRAP Research Program is comprised of psychosis researchers who are dedicated to helping our patients lead meaningful, productive lives.

BMC and the WRAP team are committed to serving vulnerable populations by providing accessible, integrated care to all patients in our community. Our evidence-based clinical care also informs our research priorities. Our research is conducted with the goal of improving care for our patients and reducing disparities and inequities in access to and outcomes in specialty psychosis care. As such, we are engaged in collaborative and integrative research focused on evaluating both novel and existing models of care. This position offers students the opportunity to gain exposure to clinical research and programmatic operations in an academic medical setting.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overall, the Student Research Intern will support research projects within the WRAP program, working with the full WRAP team to facilitate recruitment, complete regulatory and administrative tasks, conduct study visits, and contribute to research products. This role will allow the unique opportunity to interact directly with patients and healthcare providers, enhancing the Student Research Intern’s understanding of clinical research and care in a real-world setting. This experience will provide essential skills for a future career in healthcare or research, as well as in-depth education on schizophrenia-spectrum disorders.

  • Assist with data entry, document management, and tracking project-related information.
  • Support and provide communication with research participants, staff, and collaborators.
  • Prepare and update documents, spreadsheets, and other materials for meetings or reports.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to project planning and follow-up activities.
  • Help organize and maintain digital files, forms, and internal databases.
  • Support administrative tasks related to scheduling, documentation, and general coordination.
  • Conduct basic literature reviews or information gathering to support ongoing projects.
  • Uphold confidentiality and adhere to relevant policies and procedures.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • Currently enrolled in undergraduate college degree program

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Comfort using standard office software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Willingness to learn and take on new tasks
  • Professionalism and respect for confidentiality
  • Courses in psychology, psychiatry, and/or mental health
  • Experience leading group meetings
