Position: Student Intern (Blood Sample Processing), Gastroenterology      

Location: Boston, MA

Schedule: 20 hours per week, Temporary (12 weeks)

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a detail-oriented student researcher to support a clinical research study involving blood sample handling and processing. The role includes collecting blood samples in accordance with study protocols, safely transporting specimens to the laboratory, and processing samples using centrifugation (“spinning”) and proper labeling procedures.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, adhering to biosafety and ethical guidelines, and ensuring timely handling of all specimens to preserve sample integrity. The ideal candidate is organized, reliable, and comfortable working in a laboratory or clinical environment. Prior experience with phlebotomy or lab techniques is a plus but not required; training will be provided.

This position offers hands-on experience in clinical research and laboratory practices.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • Recent college graduate or student enrolled in a related graduate or undergraduate degree program, preferably beyond a second semester junior.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Must have the ability to perform multiple tasks and prioritize duties

  • Ability to work independently

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Must have an interest in performing new and varied work assignments, and be flexible with regard to work assignments

  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word is required. Knowledge or ability to learn Minitab.

  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality
