POSITION SUMMARY:

Boston Medical Center Health System is seeking a self-motivated, highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Financial Reporting Accountant to join our team. Reporting to the Associate Director of Financial Reporting, a successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating and reviewing all aspects of the organization’s financial reporting requirements. This position partners closely with Finance senior leadership on financial reporting.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

  • Prepare and deliver the timely preparation of monthly and yearly internal consolidating financial reporting package
  • Execute processes and procedures to comply with monthly financial statement close deadlines
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet variance analysis and explain significant variances, utilizing respective account owners in the accounting department as well as other finance teams
  • Review eliminations for reasonableness at the financial statement level within the consolidating reports
  • Assist with independent auditors to facilitate a successful audit and provide documentation requests, including preparation of investment and debt footnotes and disclosures
  • Assist Accounting and Finance senior leadership with collection and preparation of support for federal and state tax filings as required by not-for-profit organizations (i.e. 990, 990-T, etc.)
  • Assist Accounting and Finance senior leadership in monitoring and preparing documents related to covenant requirements on a timely basis including but not limited to quarterly and annual disclosure, arbitrage and rebate analyses to submit to Trustee and bondholders
  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial reporting related to state hospital reporting requirements
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly investment transactions and journal entries
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for all investments balances
  • Review and prepare quarterly and annual journal entries outside of scope of the accounting department
  • Participate in special projects as needed, providing support to financial initiatives
  • Assist Accounting senior leadership in forecasting unrestricted cash flow positions, related borrowing needs, and available funds for investment
  • Assist Accounting and Finance senior leadership in preparation of content and analytics for monthly financial presentations to the System’s Finance Committee and Board of Trustees related to unrestricted cash positions and financial ratios
  • Prepares cost/benefit analyses, financial projections, and ad hoc reports as defined and framed by Director of Treasury and Finance Operations
  • Assist Accounting senior leadership in preparation and approval of all annual budget tasks for investment income, interest expense and Treasury related consulting expense

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required. Masters preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

  • None required
  • CPA preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with 2+ years’ experience specific to financial reporting, required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA):

  • Healthcare or not-for-profit experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Advanced in Microsoft Excel and Word required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with ERP type accounting software
