POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Data Governance Analyst is responsible for developing and implementing data governance policies and procedures to ensure the accuracy, security, and integrity of BMC’s data. The Data Governance Analyst will work closely with stakeholders across the organization, including Hospital operations, finance, analytics, legal, compliance, and other teams, to establish data standards and ensure adherence to data policies.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

  • Developing and implementing data governance policies, standards, and procedures

  • Working closely with IT leaders, data owners, and other stakeholders to establish data governance frameworks and ensure adherence to data policies and standards

  • Coordinating with stewards of enterprise data asset catalogues (Workday, Epic, Strata, dashboard, etc.), ensuring they are properly classified, tagged, and accessible

  • Conducting data quality assessments and lead initiatives to improve data quality across the organization

  • Leverage data governance tool to develop and maintain data dictionaries and data lineage documentation (or if no tool exists, manually maintain data dictionaries)

  • Monitoring and resolving data governance-related issues

  • Providing training and support to end-users on data governance policies and procedures

  • Ensuring compliance with data privacy and protection regulations

JOB REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field required

  • Five years in data management with proven experience in data warehousing and integration and comprehension of data lineage and data quality.

  • Two years with data governance platform such as Collibra or Alation   

  • Three-five years within an academic medical center or large medical institution  

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS PREFERRED:

  • Having certifications in data governance, data management, and data analysis is also a plus ex: Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or Certified Data Analyst Professional (CDAP).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSAs):

  • Prior experience in data analysis, data management, and data governance. This experience can be acquired through internships, entry-level data analysis roles, or on-the-job training.

  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving abilities.

  • The role requires the ability to think critically and use sound judgment when handling complex data governance issues.

  • A deep understanding of data management principles, data quality, and data security is also a must-have.

  • In addition, you must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Compensation Range:

$89,500.00- $130,000.00

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness.
