Schedule: 40 hours per week, Remote

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Center for Health Equity, Education, and Research (CHEER) at Boston Medical Center is a world-class center for maternal child health advocacy, training and research. Its mission is to bring about health equity by collaborating with community-based partners and providing technical assistance, training, evaluation, and inspiration. CHEER focuses on underserved populations, with a particular emphasis on maternal child health and nutrition.

The Research Assistant II will support the CHAMPS programs. CHAMPS is a hospital-based initiative that promotes evidence-based maternity practices, with the ultimate goal of increasing breastfeeding rates and decreasing racial disparities in breastfeeding. The Research Assistant II will manage the day-to-day tasks of CHAMPS’ integrated maternity care team initiative, participate in hospital assessments, and support CHAMPS’ staff and community training programs. Other duties include but are not limited to, collaborating with members of the project teams, clinical subject matter experts, vendors, and research staff; assisting with hospital coaching; scheduling project related meetings; coordinating project related virtual and in-person events; entering and updating data and databases; and performing other administrative tasks.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

CHAMPS Research Tasks

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of CHAMPS’ integrated maternity care team initiative

  • Coordinate meetings, develop agendas, take minutes

  • Collect and manage data

  • Help to develop training materials and set up staff and community trainings

  • Conducting literature reviews

  • Contribute to the preparation reports, presentations and manuscripts for publication

Administrative Tasks

  • Attending CHEER meetings and helping to draft agendas and minutes

  • Maintain records, reports and files as required

Other Tasks

  • Participating in national and BMC-based groups that CHEER is a member of

  • Maintain departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline is required. Masters degree a plus.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in research or clinical program activities required.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.

  • Experience with recruiting subjects, with an understanding of the ethical and technical conduct of research.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) required.

  • Bilingual or multi-lingual skills in Spanish is preferred

  • Ability to work well in a very busy national program with multiple different projects

  • Knowledge of public health field, especially in relation to maternal child health. Knowledge of program evaluation is helpful

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access

  • Ability to perform data management tasks (coding, data entry, data cleaning, retrieval, etc.) Ability to perform basic data analysis and reporting (in words, numbers and graphics)

  • Excellent organizational skills, including ability to prioritize essential tasks

Compensation Range:

$18.27- $25.72

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness.
