POSITION SUMMARY:

The Research Assistant will work on the RETAIN Study which is a study that uses quantitative and qualitative methods to understand factors associated with medications for opioid use disorder treatment and retention among patients that had a serious injection-related infection and to adapt and test a peer-delivered, motivational interviewing intervention for this population. The Research Assistant will support the research team by working closely with a Principle Investigator, Research Director, and Research Coordinator to complete study-related tasks. This is a fully in-person position.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Recruit study participants who are currently hospitalized at Boston Medical Center with a serious injection-related infection
  • Conduct informed consent procedures, complete study assessments with participants, and enter data
  • Regularly contact study participants to retain them for the duration of the study · Generate weekly status reports for team meetings and take minutes
  • Assist with miscellaneous administrative tasks (e.g., data management) · Participate in meetings and ongoing trainings

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Prefer experience in clinical research, public health experience or working with children and families.
  • Previous experience with recruiting subjects, with an understanding of the ethical and technical conduct of research preferred

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong time management and task prioritization skills
  • Curiosity, openness, and willingness to learn quickly
  • Ability to be in-person

This position is grant funded through 5/31/2027. There may be opportunity beyond this grant funding for position integration into ongoing operations.
