Schedule: 36 Hours, Evenings/Nights, 7p-7a, Every Other Weekend Required, Full-Time, Benefit Eligible

Position Summary:

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse provides care that addresses the specific needs of age groups from infant to elderly and is also individualized to a variety of needs specific to impairments, such as hearing, sight, substance abuse, non-English speaking, and potential victims of abuse. The Emergency Department RN incorporates knowledge and understanding of our commitment to patient rights, our mission, vision, and values into nursing practice at Good Samaritan Medical Center.

The Emergency Department RN assumes full and ultimate responsibility for the quality of nursing care she/he provides to individuals and groups. Included in such responsibility is health maintenance, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning and restoration of optimal functioning, and/or comfort for the dignified death of those they serve. The Emergency Department RN, within the parameters of his/her generic and continuing education experience, may delegate nursing acuities to other registered nurses and/or health care personnel, provided that the delegating Emergency Department RN shall bear full and ultimate responsibility for the patient outcomes.

The Emergency Department RN must have excellent assessment skills, clinical skills, organizational skills, and computer knowledge and charge capabilities. The Emergency Department RN must be able to lift, transfer and move patients. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in the English language. Able to complete mathematical computations required to perform treatment protocols.

Required Knowledge & Skills:

  • Education: BSN preferred; Graduate from an approved school of nursing required
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years nursing experience in an emergency department is required
  • Certification/Licensure: Valid Massachusetts RN license, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and CPI
  • Software/Hardware: Meditech
