Position: Psychometric Testing Technologist, Neurology       

Location: Boston, MA

Schedule: 40 hours per week, On-site

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Psychometrist supports the Neuropsychology team in the Neurology department at Boston Medical Center by administering and scoring standardized neuropsychological assessments for adult patients presenting with a range of neurological/neurodegenerative conditions. Conditions seen include Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, Parkinson’s disease/movement disorder, traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, stroke, etc. The psychometrist will work under the supervision of licensed neuropsychologists and administer standardized cognitive tests to patients that assess cognitive and behavioral functioning (including attention/executive functions, memory, language, visuospatial/quantitative abilities, and mood).

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administers standardized neuropsychological test batteries (e.g., memory, attention/ executive function, processing speed, language, visuospatial) in accordance with test manuals and neuropsychologist instructions.

  • Scores tests, compute normative data comparisons, prepare summary tables and charts.

  • Accurately documents behavioral observations during testing (e.g., effort, affect, fatigue, cooperation).

  • Maintains and organizes test materials (including manuals, forms) in testing space. Ensures confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA.

  • Coordinates scheduling and logistics of testing sessions (communication with patients/caregivers, setting up rooms, confirming appointments).

  • Attends team meetings (neuropsychology, neurology) to contribute to process improvement and workflow.

  • Assists neuropsychologists with report preparation: generating tables, verifying data, proofreading test scores, collating test packets.

  • Stays current with test updates, normative databases, assessment technology and relevant professional best practices.

  • Ensures quality control of testing procedures, troubleshoot issues (e.g., software), and flags outlier results for review.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, or a related field and zero years of experience (or equivalent combination of education/experience.)

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree in Psychology/Neuropsychology and at least 1 year of experience administering neuropsychological assessments

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients in English and at least one other language (e.g. Spanish)

  • Familiarity with neuropsychological test batteries, normative data, neuroanatomy, and brain‐behavior relationship

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel

  • Ability to schedule, coordinate, and track multiple patient testing sessions simultaneously

  • Ability to administer and adapt testing procedures appropriately for adult and/or geriatric patients with neurological impairment. Ability to communicate effectively with patients in English and at least one other language (e.g. Spanish)

  • Knowledge of HIPAA requirements and ability to apply confidentiality standards in all interactions and documentation

Compensation Range:

$21.39- $30.05

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer.
