POSITION SUMMARY:

The Project Manager, Development will be an integral member of the Development team. Reporting to the Chief of Staff to the CDO they will operate in a cross-functional manner and play a crucial role in enhancing team productivity by streamlining processes, optimizing workflows, organizing files, and documentation and will work closely with leaders across the department to drive key cross-cutting projects & initiatives forward in support of the Department’s revenue and non-revenue goals. This position will support & lead projects across all areas of Development (including but not limited to operations & development finance, strategy development, event management, process improvements, philanthropic integration activities with Brighton & South, governance support, etc.), oversee process improvement, project management, and some administrative responsibilities, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Development Office. They will be responsible for planning, executing, and supporting a wide range of complex projects across project life cycles, will engage and collaborate with clinical and operational leaders, conduct analyses that shape decisions, and implement changes to system operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mind and tenacious spirit, excellent communication skills, a history of leading complex projects, and a proven ability to facilitate and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Development experience a plus.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

  • Direct and manage project development from beginning of project lifecycle to end.

  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.

  • Create the project charter and associated communications documents.

  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.

  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.

  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.

  • Draft and submit budget proposals, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.

  • Make budget decisions based on basic revenue model and P/L, while maintaining budget to cost projections.

  • Where required, negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company.

  • Determine and assess need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary during project cycle.

  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.

  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.

  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.

  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.

  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.

  • Track and follow-up on project milestones and deliverables.

  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.

  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.

  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.

  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.

  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and apply soft persuasion skills for them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.

  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.

  • Conduct project post implementation review and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements. Perform other duties as required for the success of the project.

  • Assist in development and delivery of training programs to educate employees on new processes and best practices.

  • Help create training materials, including manuals, presentations, and job aids.

  • Assist in conducting training sessions and workshops to ensure effective knowledge transfer.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of work experience, at least 3 years of which much be direct project management experience, including managing all aspects of process development and execution; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Advanced degree

Experience in complex, matrixed organizations, including consulting

Experience in or understanding of fundraising and health care

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS PREFERRED:

Project Management Certification (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSAs) (If none, please enter “N/A”):

  • Knowledge of project management methodologies is required.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Strong familiarity with project management software, including Scheduling, Planning, Tracking, Cost Control and Budgeting Tools

  • Familiarity various software programs and strong computer skills required.  Proficiency in one or more of the following products may be required: PowerPoint/Excel/Word/Access, as well as Outlook, Asana or other project management tools)

  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Leadership skills and ability to be persuasive, encouraging, and motivating.

  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities

  • Ability to work cooperatively with other members of the team and staff, ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule; to set priorities and solve problems; to respond quickly to emergency requests

  • Strong interpersonal skills to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments
