Neurology – Advanced Practice Provider (APP), BMC-Brighton

BMC-Brighton is seeking a Lead Inpatient Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join its expanding Neurology team. The APP assists individuals and families with their care needs by obtaining health and medical histories, performing physical examinations, and assessing health problems. The APP cares for patients with acute and chronic life limiting illnesses by managing therapeutic regimens, prescribing medications, and performing other studies and activities that are deemed appropriate. New and follow-up patients will be seen and evaluated by the APP, and physician input will be obtained as necessary as described in the nurse practitioner or physician assistant practice guidelines. The APP will assume neurological care management responsibilities and will facilitate communication with the patient, the patient's family or significant other, and the referring physician. The APP will work in collaboration with the attending physicians to provide continued collaboration with the primary care provider(s).  The APP will have the opportunity to receive training in lumbar punctures, botulinum toxin, and nerve blocks if desired. The APP is also eligible for a faculty appointment at Boston University School of Medicine and Tufts University School of Medicine.  The Lead APP will also provide oversight for the inpatient APP program and help with administrative leadership.

The hospital serves a diverse patient population from the Boston area and beyond. BMC-Brighton is a teaching hospital with a longstanding commitment to undergraduate and graduate medical education.  The medical center is academically affiliated with Boston University School of Medicine and Tufts University School of Medicine.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited APP Program
  • Licensed or license eligible nurse practitioner or physician assistant with at least one year of in-patient experience. 
  • Current MA Board of Registration NP or PA license, DEA and MA CSR
  • BLS and ACLS certified or eligible 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the health care team and administration
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required
