POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of Senior Director, Inpatient Operations and in collaboration with the VP, Inpatient and Emergency Services, the Manager, Inpatient Operations will support the overall performance of the Inpatient organization by contributing to the success of relevant financial and operational initiatives. Works with clinical leaders, IT, finance, and other business owners to develop and manage cross-cutting initiatives that improve performance.  Supports inpatient operations team in assessing, planning, implementing and sustaining change and improvement.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

The Manager’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Defines, develops and implements short- and long-term strategies and plans to meet organizational objectives with direction and support from the Senior Director.  Develop reporting to analyzes current operations to identify opportunities for improvement, develop project plans and teams to implement improvements.  Runs cross-functional initiatives to ensure key inpatient hospital goals and objectives (e.g., inpatient transfers, length of stay) are met. 

Works collaboratively with stakeholders from across the organization to accomplish hospital goals and objectives.  Develops and maintains good communication and relationships within service departments. Works with stakeholders from across the organization to develop and implement programmatic initiatives.

Recommends and implements changes in processes to improve the cost effectiveness of operations and ensure that hospital resources are used in an efficient manner.  Coordinates and implements monthly monitoring reports to measure performance against goals and benchmarks. Compiles and maintains metrics and reports on progress.

The Manager collaborate with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders to design, launch and performance manage key initiatives (e.g., design and launch of system wide transfer center) to maximize efficiency and improve operations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

None

EXPERIENCE:

3-5 years of related experience in the health care field (preferable experience in operations and/or in developing and implementing strategic initiatives in a healthcare setting).

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Experience in designing and launching critical projects.
  • Proven strength in problem solving and data driven decision making
  • BMC infrastructure and applications knowledge is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, to deal with constant change, and to participate in continual process improvement.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and lead teams in multiple locations.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Experience managing concurrent projects and working in cross-functional projects.
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment with project team members from multiple departments.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and influence skills.
  • Strong computer skills are essential (Microsoft Office products to include: PowerPoint/Excel/Word /, as well as Outlook, and Visio).
  • Proven record of accomplishment managing a team to achieve results.
  • Excellent computer skills; knowledgeable of the systems used in the practices.
  • Solid communication skills, including formal presentation and business writing
