We are looking for a Director of Strategy to join our vibrant and growing Strategy team. The Strategy team works closely with senior leadership and stakeholders across BMC Health System to own and advance high-priority initiatives that transform our system for the better.

The Director will play a visible role in leading change at BMC Health System, including managing junior staff and working cross-functionally across our organization. They will steer key strategic projects, engage and collaborate with clinical and operational leaders, conduct analyses that shape decisions, and implement changes to system operations. The issues constituting the Director's portfolio will span a range of key strategic priorities for BMC Health System, such as: opening new lines of patient service, improving mental health and addiction treatment services, scaling programs that address social determinants of health, shaping strategy for value-based care and population health programs, driving health plan performance, integrating newly acquired hospitals, and ensuring the financial sustainability of our system. The team is a great place for a person with consulting skills to apply and grow their toolkit in the context of a mission-driven health system with a fun, supportive, and performance-minded team.

REQUIREMENTS:

Experience: At least six (6) years of experience, preferably in healthcare organizations and/or consulting.

Education: MBA or other advanced business degree strongly preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Strong interpersonal skills, sound analytical reasoning, and the ability to work effectively with both internal and external entities.
  • Excellent organization and management skills, the ability to set strategy and lead a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent management and communication skills

Examples of recent work taken on by our Strategy team include:

  • Standing up an integration process for two hospitals that BMCHS recently acquired.
  • Opening a novel housing and clinical services facility serving people experiencing homelessness with co-occurring substance use disorders.
  • Articulating our system’s approach for delivering care management and coordination services in the newest phase of MassHealth’s ACO program.
  • Helping launch our system’s community-based COVID vaccine delivery program capable of delivering 20K doses per week concentrated in socially vulnerable neighborhoods around Boston.
  • Designing and executing a high-priority initiative to close inequities in maternal health outcomes.
  • Producing a “growth” plan to help BMC expand high-impact, high-value clinical programs on its campus.
  • Interfacing with MassHealth leadership on overall system financing and delivery system reform.
