The BMCHS Healthcare Fellowship is an immersive, paid 14-week workforce development program designed to prepare participants for entry-level administrative roles within the healthcare system. Fellows participate in an in-person training hosted by the YMCA’s Education and Training Center, followed by an introduction to Boston Medical Center through orientation and onboarding activities.

The program equips Fellows with the skills and knowledge to pursue certification as a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) and transition into healthcare administrative positions at BMCHS. Fellows will complete coursework in medical office operations, Microsoft Office Suite, career readiness, and BMCHS-specific administrative systems and workflows. The final two weeks of the fellowship take place on-site at BMCHS, where participants will engage with hospital teams, learn institutional processes, and prepare to apply to roles in the health system.
