WRAP Research Data Analyst II, Psychiatry Research

Position: WRAP Research Data Analyst, Psychiatry (Psychosis Care)       

Location: Boston, MA

Schedule: 20 hours per week, Hybrid or Remote

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Research Data Analyst II supports the work of the research team by analyzing large data sets, supplying statistical information, managing data and providing technical support within our Wellness and Recovery After Psychosis (WRAP) Program. Duties may also include: summarizing results in text, graphs and tables; planning, conducting and analyzing studies and designing analyses; conducting literature searches and Internet surveillance for funding opportunities. May help with preparation of manuscripts, proposals, reports and presentation materials for meetings and supporting clinician researchers with research projects. Skills and experience in manipulation of large data sets and multivariable statistical analyses (logistic, GLM, clustered, hierarchical regression) and experience with simulation modeling are highly desirable.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan and conduct statistical analyses; apply mathematical and statistical techniques and principles (including multivariable regression, hypothesis testing, generalized linear models, longitudinal analyses, mixed effects modeling, hierarchical variance structures, approaches to multiple comparison adjustments, etc.).
• Perform complex statistical analysis of data using R and SAS, for the analysis of health-related data, drawing analytical conclusions. Summarize data into usable formats (i.e. text, graphs, tables) for manuscripts, posters, presentations and communicating results.
• Prepare written reports of statistical analyses, including relevant statistical theory, references, methods, results and conclusions.

• Conduct literature reviews and other searches.
• Assist in the drafting of manuscripts, scientific articles and publications, including writing about methodologies and statistical analysis of results; creating charts and graphs, and presenting supporting data.
• Help to develop protocols and benchmarks for research projects. Manage projects (tracking IRB and abstract submissions, compliance with data use agreements and project timelines).
• Build reports for research staff to access as needed. Troubleshoot and perform regular data audits to ensure and to improve data integrity; investigate and resolve data discrepancies.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

• Requires a bachelor’s degree, preferably in economics, a health-related field or statistics, although outstanding applicants from other fields may be considered. Some demonstrated interest in healthcare or public health background should be apparent from educational record.
• Master’s degree and/or specific training and experience with cost-effectiveness research strongly preferred but not required.

EXPERIENCE:

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
• Experience in statistical programming, (preferably with R) is required.
• Experience analyzing health-related data, such as from medical records, surveys, or health care data is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA):

• Proficiency with MS O365 (Excel /Word /Outlook/PowerPoint) required.
• Must have experience in statistical analysis and interpreting data from analytic studies. Experience interacting with database environments (e.g. SQL, MS Access, Oracle) is a plus.
• Experience with simulation modeling (including classroom experience) preferred but not required.
• Experience with documentation and the use of Git and GitHub preferred.
• Strong conceptual and analytical skills; able to interpret and apply statistical techniques, and effective communication skills to explain methods and findings to non-statistician team members and audiences.

This position is grant-funded through 12/2028. There may be opportunity beyond this grant funding for position integration into ongoing operations.

WRAP’s Research Program (BU and BMC’s Psychosis Research Group) is comprised of psychosis researchers who are dedicated to helping our patients lead meaningful, productive lives. BMC and the WRAP team are committed to serving vulnerable populations by providing accessible, integrated care to all patients in our community.

Our evidence-based clinical care also informs our research priorities. Our research is conducted with the goal of improving care for our patients and reducing disparities and inequities in access to and outcomes in specialty psychosis care. As such, we are engaged in collaborative and integrative research focused on evaluating both novel and existing models of care.
