POSITION SUMMARY:

Identifies, registers, and maintains records of all trauma patients by using a trauma registry data system. Maintains current accurate data within the trauma registry by collecting, entering, retrieving and reporting data related to all trauma patients treated at Boston Medical Center- South, to establish supportive documentation qualifying the Hospital as a Level Three Trauma Center. Analyzes data and releases information in accordance to established ethical standards.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

Associates degree (or equivalent combination of formal education and experience) required.

EXPERIENCE:

At least one year ICD-9 coding and data entry experience.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Advanced medical terminology knowledge required.
  • Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all personal/health sensitive information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Experience with hospital information systems (such as GE or Citrix) is a plus.
