POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Director of BMCHS Occupational and Employee Health (OEH) is responsible for the Health System’s OEH service and business operations. The Senior Director oversees management of all employee health services staff across the system and reports to the System Medical Director of Occupational and Employee Health. Across BMCHS entities, including all hospital and medical campuses, the Senior Director engages collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of employee health services, including seasonal projects such as the annual employee influenza vaccination campaign. The Senior Director also oversees development and revision of organization policies related to employee health and safety, ensuring alignment with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements. The Senior Director will engage in strategic planning for the improvement and expansion of employee health and safety at all system sites, develop and implement cost-saving strategies for the organization around workers compensation expenditures, and lead the expansion of occupational health service opportunities for the service region.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
The Senior Director is responsible for ensuring high quality OEH services are provided throughout the BMC Health System in a timely, professional, and comprehensive manner. This includes direct supervision of OEH nursing and the clinical support staff at BMC hospital, BMC Brighton, and BMC South. Direct reports include the Director of the Employee Resilience team, and all OEH nursing and clinical support staff. Additionally, the Senior Director provides expert OEH guidance for Clearway Health, Wellsense, and BMC-affiliated community health centers.
Across BMCHS entities, the Senior Director serves as a primary resource to internal and external stakeholders for OEH related questions and services, which include medical clearance for new hires and all visiting personnel, work-related injury and exposure management, fitness for duty, etc. The Senior Director leads OEH participation in various stakeholder committees, including Infection Control Committee, Workplace Safety Committee, Workplace Violence Committee, and Percutaneous Injuries and Exposures committee, among others.
The Senior Director plans and oversees execution of annual OEH events such as employee flu vaccination campaigns, TB education and screenings, respirator clearance and fit testing, etc. The Senior Director oversees OEH data collection and reporting to appropriate local, state, and federal regulatory departments, and analyzes health and safety data to identify trends and intervention targets to develop strategies for improving employee health and safety.
The Senior Director periodically reviews, assesses, revises and creates organizational OEH policies, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic goals and compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
The Senior Director will engage in strategic planning for the improvement and expansion of employee health and safety at all system sites, develop and implement cost-saving strategies related to OEH and workers compensation for the organization, and lead the expansion of clinical occupational health services for the service region, in alignment with the strategic goals of BMCHS.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in nursing and 10 years of experience, of which at least 3 years must be in a managerial/leadership capacity; or equivalent combination of education and experience
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) or doctorate of nursing practice (DNP), 10+ years of experience, 5 years of managerial/ leadership experience
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS PREFERRED:
Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN or COHN-S)
Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner in Massachusetts
NIOSH spirometry certification
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSAs):
Knowledge of OSHA, Joint Commission, CDC and MDPH standards and guidelines for healthcare settings (e.g., education and reporting requirements).
Ability to prepare and complete regulatory agency survey/audits.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders
Strong problem solving and negotiation skills
Ability to effectively conduct meetings, both formal and informal
Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, synthesizing and presenting regular reports and measures of progress
Organizational skills required to oversee and track all budget, resource utilization, and staff deployment for all service initiatives.
Strength in implementation, execution and on time delivery of services and projects
