Position: Research Data Associate, Infectious Diseases Research        

Location: Boston, MA

Schedule: 40 hours per week Hybrid (3 - 5 days on-site/week)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Boston Medical Center has an outstanding opportunity for an independent and well-organized professional to serve as a Research Data Associate (RDA) in the infectious diseases section in the I-CARE lab (Infectious Complications Assessment and Research Lab). The lab seeks to investigate and improve the care of individuals with or at-risk for infections including HIV and hepatitis C.

A critical feature of and skill set for this role is recruiting participants for an NIH-funded study and administering study instruments. The RDA will also provide research and operational support, data collection and quality assurance, and study document development. Responsibilities described in detail below.

There is ample opportunity for development within this role, which is well-supported by senior research faculty. This position is ideal for an early career professional with interest and experience in public health looking to make a substantial contribution to the field within a diverse research team. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience working with persons who use drugs, low-income individuals, persons who are experiencing homelessness.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Recruit participants and administer study instruments
• Conduct deep and thorough reviews of the medical literature
• Analyze research data using basic methodologies; interpret results for investigators and prepare reports
• Maintain project records and ensure adherence to established timelines

• Prepare and coordinate applications to IRBs
• Submit and track progress of IRB approvals, continued reporting, and adherence to IRB protocols
• Assist with project documentation, reporting, presentations, and preparation of manuscripts (write and edit manuscripts at various stages of development)
• Maintain and update project and regulatory files and other administrative tasks

OTHER DUTIES:

Tasks related to routine administration of research projects including meeting attendance, minutes and notes, scheduling, and logistics of travel.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: ​

• Requires a bachelor’s degree preferably in a health-related field, although outstanding applicants from other fields may be considered.
• A graduate degree in health-related field is also encouraged. Some demonstrated interest in healthcare or public health background should be apparent from educational record.

EXPERIENCE:

• 1-2 years of experience in a research role preferred.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Cultural sensitivity and ability to work well with individuals from diverse social, racial, ethnic, and economic backgrounds
• Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated understanding of the principles of harm reduction, and experience working with persons who use drugs who may or may not be seeking recovery
• Excellent English communication skills, including comfort with public speaking and formal writing
• Excellent interpersonal skills, professionalism, and collaborative spirit
• Ability to produce data visualization and study visuals
• Familiarity with R, SAS or other statistical programming language
• Specific knowledge of HIV, HCV, substance use, clinical research, and data management is preferred though not required.

This position is grant funded grant through 8/31/28. There may be opportunity beyond this grant funding for position integration into ongoing operations.
