POSITION SUMMARY:


The program is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Research Assistant. Under the supervision of Dr. Natalia Morone, the Sr. Project Manager, and the Research Coordinators, the RA will be responsible for research-related activities such as organizing study materials and other research-related duties, work with research participants as the study progresses, general administrative duties such as assisting with scheduling and other general office duties.

This is a great opportunity for highly motivated, organized, and detail-oriented individuals to gain more experience and hone their skills in clinical research. Our main project, OPTIMUM, is a pragmatic clinical trial that is studying a clinical pain management program modeled on Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction in the primary care setting. OPTIMUM is located on the BU Medical Campus in the Crosstown Building (801 Massachusetts Avenue).

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with the team to research important resources to aid with facilitation of the simulation protocol
  • Schedules appointments of participants; conducts reminder phone calls and/or mailouts. Schedules and performs interviews with participants over the phone.
  • Completes and reviews the data collection forms for each participant for completion and quality.
  • Adheres to legal, professional and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy. Assists team in communications with collaborating institutions/providers and key stakeholders. 

  • Assists with the organization of project materials such as project documents, project files, newsletters, meeting minutes, emails, etc.
  • Assists with onboarding new team members. May assist with data collection and analysis
  • Works with the Principal Investigators to create a master project calendar and facilitates meetings related to project implementation.
  • Maintains an up to date roster of all project related contacts and documents

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Prefer experience in clinical research, public health experience or working with children and families.
  • Previous experience with recruiting subjects, with an understanding of the ethical and technical conduct of research preferred.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).
  • Bilingual candidate preferred, not required, fluent in spoken and written English, Spanish, and/or Haitian Creole.
  • Cultural sensitivity and comfort with a wide range of social, racial and ethnic populations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web browsers.  Experience with statistical software a plus.
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of all personal/health sensitive information.

This position is funded by a 5 year grant. There may be opportunity beyond this grant funding for position integration into ongoing operations.
