Position: Registered Respiratory Therapist

JOB SUMMARY:

Functions as a working shift resource to provide direct oversight, assistance, support and problem resolution to Respiratory Staff and may be scheduled for regular staff assignment as needed or requested.  This includes organization of assignments and coverage of workloads.

Schedule: Full Time, 36 Hour Rotating Day/ Night

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

  • Responsible for all essential functions listed for the Registered Respiratory Therapist.
  • Possess, maintain and deliver high clinical standards in the assessment, administration, education, and observation of respiratory therapy as ordered by Licensed Independent Practitioners.
  • Provide direct oversight, assistance, support, and problem resolution to respiratory staff in all aspects of respiratory care, including organization, assignment, and coverage of workloads.
  • Responsible for resolving call offs while on site and making appropriate actions to assure adequate staffing levels for the following shift.  Responsible to appropriately and timely address any issues or concerns that may develop.  Provides coverage in the absence of department leadership.
  • Act as a resource for development and troubleshooting for respiratory care staff.  Actively supports and participates with clinical content and presentation of regularly scheduled intradepartmental meetings.
  • Assist in the development of clinical care policies, procedures, and protocols.  Ensure consistency in the application of those objectives.
  • Assist in the on-going evaluation, in-servicing, and purchasing of both new and existing equipment and supplies, providing input into departmental selection and function to ensure appropriate usage, inventory, and cost effectiveness.
  • Assist with respiratory rotations and clinical observations from multiple schools and disciplines, including but not limited to respiratory, nursing, emergency response, potential candidates, and high school programs.
  • Assist with quality improvement initiatives including data development and data collection.
  • Responsible to actively organize weekly department meetings and participate in other hospital meetings or committees as requested by Respiratory Leadership.
  • Billing –reconciling daily billing
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Degree from an AMA approved program in respiratory therapy; bachelor's degree required.

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience combined in both adult and neonatal (Level III NICU) critical care environment. Previous leadership experience with demonstrated clinical excellence required.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (If none, please enter “N/A”):

  • Experience setting was/is in an academic teaching institution.
  • Additional experience in Pulmonary Function Testing, Pulmonary Procedures and ECMO preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED (If none, please enter “N/A”):

  • Licensed in respiratory therapy by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. RRT
  • RRT
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • NRP

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS PREFERRED (If none, please enter “N/A”):

  • RPFT
  • Certified Instructor in one of the required certifications listed above

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSAs) (If none, please enter “N/A”):

  • Software/Hardware:  EPIC, Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Other: Training: Must obtain sufficient annual continuing education to maintain MA respiratory license.

Compensation Range:

$39.04- $58.00
