Position: Perinatal Float Pool

Location: Menino OB Float Pool

Schedule: 36 hours perm nights, every third weekend

ABOUT THE MATERNAL CHILD HEALTH/PEDIATRIC FLOAT POOL DEPARTMENT AT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER:

Registered Nurses in the Pediatric Float Pool float between the Pediatric ED, the Inpatient General Pediatric Unit, the Pediatric ICU  (ages newborn to 23 years of age) or the Neonatal ICU.  As a Magnet recognized organization, our Pediatric Float Pool nurses are equipped to provide comprehensive and complex care to children of all ages.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As an RN in the Maternal Child Health/Mother Baby Department , you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization, and will be able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver nursing care in the Maternal Child Health/Mother Baby Department, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
  • Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families
  • Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues
  • Update and manage patient records
  • Enter and interpret computerized data/information
  • Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization
  • Assist the leadership team as needed in  quality improvement projects

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • 1+ years of RN experience preferred
  • Certification in basic life support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) certification required in certain units
  • Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
  • Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Fluency in another language a plus
  • 1+ years experience as an RN
