Position: Registered Nurse

Location: ICU, St. Elizabeth's Medical Center

Schedule: 36 Hours, Night Shift, Every 3rd Weekend

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Registered Nurse (RN) in our 38-bed (28+10) multi-specialty Intensive Care Unit (ICU), you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional, patient-centered care.

ABOUT OUR UNIT:

Multi-Specialty ICU:

- 28 MICU/ SICU/CCU/neuro ICU beds

- 10 CTICU beds

Nurses are trained to take care of any medical, surgical, neurology, cardiology and cardiothoracic patients, gaining knowledge and skills in all specialties as well as devices.

The multi-specialty aspect of this ICU is especially interesting for experienced ICU nurses who wish to pursue their career in critical care while developing new competencies and enriching their practice.

CT Surgery Recognition: St. Elizabeth's Medical Center has been named the best hospital for cardiac surgery in Massachusetts in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver nursing care in the ICU unit, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
  • Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families
  • Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues
  • Update and manage patient records
  • Enter and interpret computerized data/information
  • Follow guidelines and policies established by BMCHS/St. Elizabeth’s nursing department
  • Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • 2 years of RN experience required in a med/surg setting
  • ICU experience preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) certification required
  • Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Fluency in another language a plus
