Position Function: 

  • Assists in a wide variety of procedures within the Radiology department. 
  • Ensures patient safety and all times and uses double identifiers.
  • Assumes responsibility for quality of work in designated area and provides quality care to the patient
  • Assures efficiency and effectiveness of patient care services
  • Provides clerical and support services to all areas of the Department of Radiology. Includes computer entry, transport, stocking of Radiology rooms, assistance to Technologists in performing exams, greeting and preparation of patients for exams.
  • Assures proper follow up and call back of patients.
  • Assists all patient and technologist with all levels of care.

Job Relationships: 

  • This positions reports directly to the Clinical Supervisor and works collaboratively with medical staff, nursing, imaging, peers and other customers of the medical center.

Authority:

  • Has the authority and responsibility for restricting access to the imaging area to assure patient and visitor safety. Also to reschedule patients according to needs of the dept and patient with the responsibility to communicate changes to all parties involved.

A. Responsibilities/Essential Functions:        

  • Provides superior customer services to internal and external customers and patients as referenced in the Service Excellence Standards
  • Perform all duties to assist the staff technologists.
  • Assists in the orientation of technical assistants
  • Develops and maintains databases for radiologists, supervisors to provide excellent patient care.
  • Completes all PACS duties to assure accuracy of imaging record and timeliness of interpretation
  • Collects all necessary patient, exam and billing information
  • Promotes professional image by adhering to dress code
  • Reports equipment problems to the Clinical Supervisor
  • Maintains an efficient office environment
  • Organizes all paperwork for all modalities such as physician orders, labs, pre certification and pre authorizations
  • Prepares the exam table and positions patients relative to the procedure being performed.  Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of working area, preparing for the next patient as soon as the procedure is finished in order to keep the work flow progressing.
  • Maintains proper professional demeanor to patients, medical staff, and patients.
  • Completes all patient tracking functions to ensure proper and accurate billing, report transcription, and image storage and retrieval.

B. Responsibilities/Non-Essential Functions:      

  • Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.
  • Performs all functions necessary to provide efficient patient care including clerical and transport duties.

Reporting Requirements:       

  • Reports problems, issues and patient/physician concerns as appropriate to the Technologist, Clinical Supervisor or Operations Manager.
  • Collects and transports post procedures specimens to pathology
  • Escorts patients and visitors throughout the medical center 

Accountability: 

  • Accountable for maintaining the confidentiality and security of all hospital related, medical staff related and patient related data and information.
  • Accountable for abiding by all relevant hospital and department policies and procedures.
  • Accountable for assuring all resources and supplies are utilized in a fiscally prudent manner.
  • Accountable for providing a safe working environment for all staff in the Pain Center.
  • Accountable for assuring daily exam/charge reconciliations.
  • Accountable for assuring Radiology technologist compliance with all PACS workflow requirements.
  • Accountable for correctly interpreting and administering hospital and department policies in a consistent and thorough manner.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education:

  • Working papers, High School Diploma or GED

Minimum Experience:    

  • Healthcare experience preferred

Minimum skills/abilities:

  • Must be able to collaborate and effectively communicate with Radiology clients.
  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to satisfactorily explain examination process to patients.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate efficient and courteous communications with patients and hospital employees.

Certification/Licensure: 

  • BLS certification preferred or must be obtained within 30 days of employment

Training: 

  • Competency with McKesson PACS preferred.
