Schedule: 40 Hours, Days, Full Time, Benefit Eligible

Position Summary:

Supervise all Patient Access and Patient Registration functions. Incumbent must ensure that patient greeting, ED and Imaging registrations, admissions, pre-registration and discharge processes run timely and efficiently. Supervisor will oversee staff assignments to ensure adequate coverage for all areas. Supervisor will oversee and perform quality assurance and downtime work as assigned. Obligation to train new hires and existing staff on existing and new processes and protocols. Must ensure smooth workload transition from day to night shift personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates responsibly with Patient Access Coordinators on the attainment of shared goals.
  • Communicates regularly with subordinates, Financial Coordinators, Patient Access Manager, and other clinical staff as needed to address identified issues/concerns and opportunities to improve the patient care experience.
  • Oversees all scheduling, training, workflow, staff assignments, and coverage for all Patient Registration staff members.
  • Identifies operational issues and challenges and potential patient safety issues, raises them to Manager, and works with Manager to resolve.
  • Supports execution of performance improvement initiatives within the department or with other hospital departments.
  • Assists in resolving patient concerns.
  • Assists Manager to ensure all personnel department policies and procedures are followed.
  • Acts in the capacity of Manager in his/her absence and informs Manager of all issues upon his/her return.
  • Attends in-service presentations and completes mandatory education week, including but not limited to, infection control, patient safety, and quality improvements.
  • Provides input to Manager on staff evaluations.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of Patient Access experience in a hospital setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to oversee employees.
  • Knowledgeable with Meditech, Epic, Outlook, Microsoft Office.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • On-call 24 hour/7 day week coverage required; rotates with Patient Access Manager
