Schedule: 40 Hours, Days, Weekends As Needed, Full Time, Benefit Eligible

Position Summary:

Supervise all Patient Access and Patient Registration functions. Incumbent must ensure that patient greeting, ED and Imaging registrations, admissions, pre-registration and discharge processes run timely and efficiently. Supervisor will oversee staff assignments to ensure adequate coverage for all areas. Supervisor will oversee and perform quality assurance and downtime work as assigned. Obligation to train new hires and existing staff on existing and new processes and protocols. Must ensure smooth workload transition from day to night shift personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates responsibility with Lead Patient Access Coordinators.
  • Cross-functionality with Financial Coordinators, Bed Management Coordinators, and hospital staff.
  • Oversees all scheduling, training, workflow, staff assignments, and coverage for all evening Patient Registration staff members.
  • Has the authority to carry out the operational and management functions of the Patient Registration department as directed by the Director of Patient Registration.
  • Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a team.
  • Identifies operational issues and challenges, raises them to Manager, and works with Manager to resolve.
  • Assists Director with staff evaluations by providing input on individuals.
  • Supports execution of performance improvement initiatives within the department or with other hospital departments.
  • Assists in resolving patient concerns.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma required, Associate’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of hospital Patient Access experience required. Ability to supervise a minimum of 3-5 employees.
  • Software/Hardware: Meditech, Outlook, Microsoft Office.
  • Past experience with training staff, conducting quality assurance analyses, and doing root cause problem solving.
  • Must have excellent customer service experience and in-depth Meditech system experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Patient Registration practices/protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize under short deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with clinical care team and physicians in a manner that is both assertive and sensitive to interdisciplinary boundaries of authority.
  • Excellent organizational capabilities.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Strong sense of diplomacy and ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to balance sometimes conflicting priorities.
