POSITION SUMMARY:

Installs, maintains and evaluates network systems and communications. Configures various data network devices and services including VoIP. Troubleshoots all network related issues with a diverse scope. Assists in network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies. Responsible for the daily technical support of the Institution-wide computer networks. Proactively researches and locates necessary tools and processes to identify troublesome trends as they develop. Ensures a stable performance environment for the enterprise systems. Participates in various IT projects intended to continually improve and upgrade the enterprise network infrastructure. Provides next level support to Network Engineers 1. Maintains network equipment images and configurations. Participates in the development of standards of practice to include: physical layout of infrastructure wiring, networking products and protocol compliance.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

Understanding of distributed systems architecture and knowledge of multiple technical disciplines. Technical knowledge and aptitude in the areas of networks, network topologies, PC workstations (configuration and connectivity), network file servers, applicable software, and troubleshooting techniques. Ability to solve network infrastructure issues and to manage the performance and capacity of a LAN/WAN/WLAN environment. Ability to configure and maintain Firewalls, remote access VPN, and Datacenter networking. Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs. Strong customer service and communications skills. Good judgment and analytical skills; strong follow-up and organizational skills. Ability to work with different IT teams. Research and analyze emerging technologies.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent combination of formal education and experience).

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

Professional certifications such as Cisco CCNA or Aruba Network Certification is desirable

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 4--7 years of related experience

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Data Network Hardware: Cisco routers (2800 - 7600), switches (3750 - 6500). Cisco Nexus 9000 Series Datacenter switches, Aruba Wireless Networking Infrastructure, Aruba Wired Switches Infrastructure.

  • Protocols: TCP/IP, TACAC’s, Radius, OSPF, BGP4, SNMP, VXLAN, Multicast, Anycast, DHCP, DNS, SIP and Video suites of protocols

  • WAN/LAN/WLAN management: SolarWinds, Netflow, Airwave, and Aruba Clearpass

  • Configuration, management and troubleshooting of IPSEC VPN tunnels

  • Join on-call rotation to provide 24X7 support

  • Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows 10, 2008, 2016, 2019, Linux.

Compensation Range:

$66,500.00- $96,500.00

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness.
