POSITION SUMMARY:

Reports to the Senior Manager of Data, Analytics and Reporting, and collaborates with Information Technology Services (ITS). We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Business Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing business processes, identifying areas for improvement, and developing strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. The Business Analyst will work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, document processes, and support the implementation of solutions that align with the organization’s goals. The role will also play a big part in the Department of Finance’s Data Governance framework.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

  • Requirement Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and gather detailed requirements.
  • Process Analysis: Analyze current business processes and workflows to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed documentation, including business requirements, functional specifications, and process maps.
  • Solution Development: Develop and propose solutions that address business needs and improve operational efficiency.
  • Data Analysis: Perform data analysis to support decision-making and identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate communication between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure alignment and understanding.
  • Project Management Support: Assist in project planning, monitoring, and reporting to ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Testing and Validation: Coordinate and conduct testing to ensure solutions meet business requirements and are free of defects.
  • Training and Support: Assist in providing training and support to end-users to ensure successful adoption of new systems and processes.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in a finance or computer science related field (work experience may substitute for finance specific degree).

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

  • None required; Epic certification preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • None required; minimum of 1-3 years of experience as a Business Analyst or in a related role (education can substitute for experience) preferred.
  • Experience working in a remote or corporate environment, valued.
  • Demonstrated background working with business intelligence platform, large sets of data in SQL or other programming language.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSAs):

  • Advanced MS Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Tableau) is a plus.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects at one time.
  • Ability to conduct detailed analysis, as well as distill relevant findings for presentation to high-level audience.
  • Superior analytic and problem solving skills with a high value in data integrity and analytic accuracy.
  • Enjoys working on teams.
  • Desire to learn and grow within the organization.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to drive projects to completion.
  • A natural curiosity and energetic, creative, and collaborative approach to working and problem solving.
  • A balance of patience and perseverance necessary to affect change in a large and complex organization.
