POSITION SUMMARY:

BMCHS is seeking a Director of Performance Optimization, primarily focused on advancing initiatives within the Pharmacy organization. The pharmacy section at BMCHS is an established wide-reaching, complex organization made up of one of the largest integrated specialty pharmacies in the country at nearly $1B in annual revenue, a leading clinical and residency program, and a health insurance company managing over 700,000 lives, working together as a system to deliver cutting edge clinical initiatives. 

The Director of Performance Optimization will serve as a key partner to the Executive Director, Strategy and Business Development, VP and Chief Pharmacy Officer of Hospital, and SVP, Pharmacy, Wellsense. They will focus on identifying, troubleshooting, and solving for system pharmacy optimizations, focused on but not limited to, 340B utilization, operational efficiency, financial performance and profitability.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

  • Partner with senior pharmacy leadership to identify and prioritize opportunities that improve financial performance, operational efficiency, and care delivery across the pharmacy enterprise, leveraging data, market intelligence, and performance metrics.​
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with key stakeholders—including the Director of Pharmacy Compliance and the Executive Director of Strategy and Business Development—to drive enterprise-wide optimization of the 340B program across hospital campuses, community health centers, and offsite locations.​
  • Advise on the evaluation and implementation of technology solutions that enhance pharmacy performance, using subject matter expertise to guide platform selection, workflow integration, and scalability across business lines.​
  • Support financial forecasting and planning activities for a $1B+ pharmacy P&L by providing data-driven insights on business trends, volume shifts, and emerging revenue opportunities across new and existing services.​
  • Lead development and execution of high-impact performance improvement strategies, including design and implementation of initiatives that deliver measurable ROI, strengthen competitive positioning, and support long-term growth objectives.​
  • Collaborate with innovation and strategy teams to pilot, scale, and commercialize solutions aligned to evolving market needs, demonstrating a clear value proposition and business case for internal and external stakeholders.​
  • Act as a catalyst for root-cause problem-solving, going beyond operational efficiency to challenge assumptions, identify underlying barriers to performance, and drive cross-functional alignment around sustainable solutions.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors of Science and minimum of 8 years working within a pharmacy, pharmacy department, or pharmacy services organization required.

Must have prior experience successfully leading multi-stakeholder initiatives or launching programs in cross-functional environments, with demonstrated business knowledge.

  • Highest level of integrity and respect for patients and colleagues
  • Proficient with standard Microsoft programs (i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web browsers.
