Boston Medical Center (BMC) and the Boston University (BU) Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine are jointly recruiting a Chief of Cardiac Surgery to lead our established program that recently earned a three-star rating—the highest possible—from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons for patient care and outcomes in coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) operations.
Ideal characteristics of the Chief include:
BMC is committed to scholarship and education and is the 13th largest recipient of funding from the National Institutes of Health among independent hospitals. BMC is also the primary teaching affiliate of the BU Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, a highly-ranked medical school dedicated to urban and international health and recognized as a leader in groundbreaking medical research. The Department of Surgery has a significant record of clinical, outcomes, translational, and basic research activity. In addition, faculty members in the Division of Cardiac Surgery collaborate with investigators in the Section of Cardiovascular Medicine and the BU Whitaker Cardiovascular Institute.
BMC is a 514-bed academic medical center located in Boston’s historic South End. BMC and the Department of Surgery have roots that date back more than 150 years. The largest safety-net hospital in New England, BMC provides consistently excellent and accessible health care to all and is the region's busiest trauma and emergency services center.
BMC and the BU Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine are committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive workforce. Candidates who can contribute to our community's diversity, inclusion, and health equity through their research, teaching, and/or service are encouraged to apply. As such, applicants are strongly encouraged to include a brief diversity statement in their cover letter or curriculum vitae.
Candidates must be board-certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
Qualified candidates should forward a letter of interest and CV to Robin Lucier via email: Robin.Lucier@bmc.org. Please include “AY24GS062” in the subject line.
