Schedule: Per Diem, As Needed, Non-Benefit Eligible

Summary: 

Repair, maintain, and operate boilers and associated equipment throughout the Medical Center.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Repair, maintain, and operate boilers and associated equipment throughout the Medical Center. 

  • Perform rounds every shift and make appropriate adjustments to insure proper operation of equipment. 

  • Perform surveillance of all operations, gauges, valves, visible and audible alarms. 

  • Perform chemical analysis of boiler water as required. 

  • Maintain logs and records as required. 

  • Repair and maintain equipment as assigned by Director of Facilities. 

  • Assist with preparing for the annual inspection of the boilers as required. 

  • Perform planned maintenance as required. 

  • Assist the Facilities Manager in planning the daily workload, the general maintenance schedule, and the Planned Maintenance Schedule. 

  • Assist the Facilities Manager in maintaining adequate job specific stock or supplies for proper maintenance of all buildings assigned. 

  • Perform general demolition/construction/renovation work as required. 

  • Work harmoniously with outside contractors in the execution of their duties as required. 

  • Maintain assigned equipment and work area in a clean, safe and orderly manner. 

  • Report defective equipment to department supervision immediately. 

  • Complete all work assigned in a timely and professional manner. 

  • Submit all completed work orders in a timely manner. 

  • Review work orders with department supervision as required. 

  • Adhere to department and Medical Center policies and procedures. 

  • Assist other tradesmen in the execution of their duties as required by supervision. 

  • Perform a wide variety of trade related duties providing proper maintenance of the Medical Center. 

  • Report code violations to department supervision immediately. Drive Medical Center's vehicle as required. 

  • Perform all other duties as assigned or directed. 

 

Required Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent 

  • Experience: 5 years of experience in boiler operation and repair 

  • Certification/Licensure: 2nd Class Fireman or better 

  • Software/Hardware: CMMS, Outlook, and MS Office Suite 

  • Moderate physical effort. 

  • frequent lifting, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling. 

  • frequent periods of concentration requiring attention to detail.
